Practice Navigation Day Ochils
May and June 2022
Involving the main aspects of using a 1:50 000 map and compass, this walk will include led navigation exercises. Starting near Blackford village, we will head off into the Ochils. From identifying regular and simple features to more technical map reading, we will explore pacing, timing and other location techniques.
This is ideal for those new to hill walking or walkers who could benefit from more practice and will be an excellent opportunity to share any tips and ideas.
Duration approximately 5 hours with the route mainly on tracks and open hill sides. Usual hill walking gear required (a kit list will be sent out). Start 9am. Cost £35 per person. Max. 4 people

Set walks
Sgor Gaoith, Cairngorms or Cairn Gorm, off the beaten path – shorter day walks
Sgor Gaoith is a fantastic hill with wonderful views across the Cairngorms. Starting off in Glen Feshie, a well-constructed path leads up to broad ridges and tops.
From the summit, down steep slopes and cliffs, there are great views of Loch Einich. This walk has lots of points of interest en route and possibilities for alternative return routes depending on time. As with all my walks, there is also the possibility of navigation options. A reasonable degree of fitness is necessary.
Cairn Gorm, tackle this classic hill by a less walked route. Fantastic scenery and exploring.
Start time 8.30am. Cost £35 per person.
